Split Rock Trail - Grayson Highlands State Park, Virginia Grayson Highlands State Park, Virginia

My friend Danielle told me about a pretty amazing place in Virginia where there are wild ponies roaming around and we went. Grayson Highlands State Park is right on the Appalachian Trail. There are miles of trails and plenty of camping spots. On my first visit we hiked up the Appalachian Trail, found a place to stay the night and went searching for ponies. We dined on horse meat and bedded down for the night, not really but we could have. The ponies are very friendly they were not scared of us at all. We went back in January for some day hiking. Most of the trails are organized into loops and figure eights. Hiking into a cloud to enjoy Big Pinnacle was an amazing experience although I would like to go back when I could take in the view.
