This year I made a point to go out and shoot the famous east Tennessee fall colors. It is such a fleeting few weeks at the beginning of fall. I usually do not make it out to the mountains in time. Subsequently I am new to photographing the change. The rules that apply to shooting the green spring and summer do not apply to the reds, oranges and browns we see in October.
My first attempt was a quick drive up the Foothills Parkway. A few years earlier I had done some summertime panoramas from a lot of these same spots
. I learned a lot this day. First of all I need to build a platform to shoot from on top of my van. Also I need to come back either much earlier or a little later in the day. The colors alone do not make the picture just like any outdoor photography you want the sun at a dramatic angle.
