Germany Negatives

August 21, 2012  •  Leave a Comment

Back when I had spring breaks I used one of them to go to Germany. I shot a lot of film. I turned some of them in for a class project. The professor said they were snapshots and he was right. Back then there was no Facebook so the negatives just got packed away.
My process for shooting these negatives has become very similar to working with the enlarger in a dark room. The camera itself is just like the aperture and timer. With the magnification on the live view I can focus down to the grain on the film. During this session I added a dimmer to my light source.

These were made by shooting a negative sandwiched between two pieces of glass. Different light sources and backgrounds produce very interesting effects while digitizing the content.
